Creative Mission
The Peak Digital Imaging Society (PDIS) is a club dedicated to the digital arts.
This includes photography, videography, digital creations, and the use of digital media to produce other traditional art forms.
Some venues involve collaboration to develop artistic creativity, as well as technical knowledge.
PDIS offers an informal, friendly, and cooperative environment for new opportunities.
Community Vision
PDIS will prompt awareness of digital imagery as a fine art in our community through supporting speakers, exhibitions, studio groups, and learning groups.
PDIS also strives to increase appreciation of digital artwork among local artists by partnering with these galleries [Academy Art & Frame Company and Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort].
PDIS Opportunities
John Fielder Award
John Fielder was an American landscape photographer, nature writer, the publisher of over 40 books, and a conservationist, according to Wikipedia.
He was the most prolific nature photographer in Colorado. His digital camera of choice was a Cannon.
He is fondly remembered by PDIS as our first well-known speaker. He passed away, August 11, 2023.
This nationally renowned artist donated his life’s work to History Colorado 2023. PDIS recently voted to remember him by giving the Fielder Award, related to nature, during our spring competition.
Creative Vision
PDIS will foster a balance of education, competitions, exhibits, and workshops.
Club activities wll assist members in developing their knowledge, skills, artistic disciplines, marketing levels, and public outreach.
PDIS competitions and submissions of artwork for PDIS designated exhibits (shows) are open to club members only.
Monthly Meetings
Monthly Meetings will include a mix of member participation, speakers, workshops, and competitions.
For efficient club communication, all members are requested to submit their updated names and e-mail addresses to PDIS officers.
Dave Horn Award
Photographer Dave Horn, past member, attended the first public PDIS meeting in 2000.
He participated in our photography club for 13 -14 years. Many of our present PDIS members remember him well. He was strongly supportive of our club with his finances, generating ideas, and aiding recruitment.
His digital camera of choice was a Nikon. Dave was also a member of a local cycling organization. He loved both cycling and photographing cyclists.
PDIS honors his memory each year by giving the Horn Award, related to bicycles, during our fall competition.
