Fine Arts - The life of an Entry

Fine Arts

Fine arts is one of the longest running traditions of the fair and provides an opportunity for emerging artists and professional artists. We accept submissions in eight categories, including Painting, Drawing/Printmaking, Sculpture (3D), Ceramics, Photography, Digital Arts/Digitally-Manipulated Photography, Mixed Media (2D), Jewelry/Metalsmithing, and Fiber Art.

Fine Arts - Important Dates for 2025

● June 9 – Entry Registration Opens (online and in-person Tuesdays and Wednesdays)
● July 16 at 4 p.m. – Entry Registration Form & Fee Deadline
● July 26, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Entry Drop-off, Fine Arts Building
● August 1 at 5 p.m. – Accepted/Not Accepted Posted Online
● August 8 at 2 p.m. – Accepted Electronically-Submitted Artwork Drop-off Deadline
● August 21, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. – Public Reception
● August 25 at 5 p.m. – Full Judging Results Posted Online
● September 3, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and September 6, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Entry Pick-up

Fine Arts - Entry Process

Artwork can be dropped off in one of three ways:
1.Hand-delivered
2. Electronically Submitted (must hand-deliver if accepted)
3. Mailed
Exhibitors must pre-register (complete the entry form and pay fees online
or at the General Entry Office in the Palace of Agriculture beginning
Monday, June 9, and continuing through Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

Fine Arts - Entry Process

● Entry Registration opens on June 9.
● Emerging and professional artists can register their artwork
online by going to coloradostatefair.com/competitions and clicking on Fine Arts
● Deadline for entry registration and payment is July 16 at 4 p.m.
● If you don’t want to register online, you can fill out a paper form Paper Form.
● There is a limit of 5 entries per person.
● All hand-delivered artwork must be delivered with the appropriate hanging hardware on July 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Fine Arts building on the Fairgrounds.

Fine Arts - Judging

● Entries in the emerging artist and professional artist divisions will be judged separately by a team of art professionals.
● Judging is closed to the public.
● A list of accepted and not accepted entries will be posted online at 5 p.m. on August 1.

Fine Arts - Reception

● The opening reception of the 2025 Colorado State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, in the Gallery of Fine Arts. The reception is free and open to the public, and there will be a cash bar.
● Join us at this celebration to see the exhibition for the first time and see if your artwork placed and where it is displayed!

Fine Arts - Fair Opening Date

● The Colorado State Fair officially opens on Friday, August 22, at 11 a.m. The Gallery of Fine Arts opens with the Fair every day and closes daily at 9 p.m.
● All results of the 2025 Fine Arts exhibition will be posted online on August 25 at 5 p.m.

Fine Arts - Not Accepted Artwork Pick-up

● If your artwork does not get accepted into the show, you may pick it up during the days/times posted online (September 3 or 6).
● If you do not pick up your artwork by this time, it will be stored until our regular pickup days after the fair: September 3 or 6.

Fine Arts - Pick-up

● Any artwork accepted will remain on display throughout the Fair and until scheduled pick-up times. No artwork will be removed early.
● No exceptions.

● September 3, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
● September 6, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m
● When you arrive to pick up your artwork at the Fine Arts building, have your claim check ready. All artwork must be picked up within 90 days or it will become the property of the Fair
